Finishing calculator
Needlepoint cording calculator
Estimate how much finished cord surrounds a project and create a conservative cutting plan for twisted DMC floss cording.
Enter positive dimensions and 1–48 full floss strands.
Project perimeter 12.6 in
Cut each strand 55.3 in 1.54 yd each
DMC floss to buy 3 skeins 8 m skeins, using full six-ply strands
Twist tightness, take-up, joins, and the finishing method change the required cutting length. Make one short sample with the same strand count before cutting expensive fibers.
What the cording estimate includes
The tool calculates a circle, oval, or rectangle perimeter—or accepts an outline measured with a flexible tape. It adds joining allowance, then applies the selected cutting multiplier to each full six-ply floss strand.
The four-times option is intentionally conservative. It is a material-planning rule of thumb rather than a guarantee of the final twist ratio.
