Calculating the correct canvas size is simple but crucial. The formula is:
canvas_size = (stitches / mesh_count) + (2 × border_margin)
For example, if your design is 130 stitches wide and 100 stitches tall on 13 mesh canvas:
- Design width: 130 / 13 = 10.0 inches
- Design height: 100 / 13 = 7.7 inches
- With 3-inch border: 10.0 + 6 = 16.0 inches wide, 7.7 + 6 = 13.7 inches tall
Always add border margin for finishing. Without enough border, your framer or finisher won't have enough canvas to fold and secure the edges.
