Before stitching: send the proposed stitched length and width to your chosen finisher. Their leather allowance, row loss, buckle style, and hole placement override this planning estimate.

How the belt calculation works

The calculator subtracts the selected leather-finishing allowance from the finished buckle-to-hole measurement. It then multiplies that stitched length and width by the mesh count to create the design grid.

A belt labeled for a 36-inch measurement with a 4-inch finishing allowance produces a 32-inch stitched area. On 13 mesh, that is approximately 416 stitches long. Do not begin stitching from a pants size alone: measure a belt that already fits whenever possible.

Why the result must be confirmed

Needlepoint belt finishers do not all use the same leather construction. Some also lose a row at the stitched edge. Treat this tool as a clear worksheet for the conversation with your finisher, not a production specification.
